(Luxemburg, WI) April 16 — 77 cars representing six different divisions took part in a test-and-tune at Luxemburg Speedway Friday as drivers shook their cars down prior to the season opener on Friday, April 23 at 7 p.m.

A total of 23 IMCA northern sportmods were on hand, including 16 stock cars, 14 modifieds, 14 hobby stocks, 10 sport fours and one street stock.

“Considering another local track had a practice the same night and we’ve already had a race in the area I’m real excited about the turnout we had tonight,” said track manager Rick Goral. ” After tonight we’ve sold 115 pit stalls, which is the largest amount I’ve ever sold prior to the season before. We’re poised to have a solid year.”

Among the drivers who turned some of the unofficial quickest laps in the IMCA modifieds were New Franken’s Shawn Kilgore in a Jeff Taylor car, defending track champion Brian Mullen of Seymour in a Harris car and Green Bay’s Jared Siefert.

Forestville veteran Charlie Kroll was among the fastest IMCA stock car drivers wheeling a new Ben Kroll built ride, while Manitowoc’s Jesse Brey returned after a ten year absence, wheeling a sportmod formerly driven by Erroll Berry and Tim Jorgenson. Also on hand was rookie Eric Mahlik, who turned some quick laps in his first ever appearance at the track in a sportmod. “We plan on running Luxemburg and Seymour on Sunday nights weekly,” said Mahlik.

Opening night is slated for Friday, April 23 at 7 p.m. IMCA modifieds, stock cars, northern sportmods, hobby stocks and sport fours will compete weekly at the third-mile, clay oval.
