(Luxemburg, WI) February 6 — If there is an economic recession in progress, don’t tell Luxemburg Speedway track manager Rick Goral that.

98 drivers purchased their pit stalls for the 2011 season at a drivers meeting at Northbrook Country Club in Luxemburg Friday, February 4. “We’re up about eight stalls sold from the same time a year ago, so we’re pretty optimistic,” said Goral. “We’ve got most everybody back and we’ll have an ample number of rookies in many of the classes.”

Goral also announced at the meeting that Raceceivers will be utilized this season. “We sold 17 of them already, and overall I think it will be a great benefit to the drivers,” said Goral. “A grace period will be enacted, and drivers can use them the first few weeks but they will not be mandatory yet.” An exact date when the units will be mandatory will be announced at a later date.

Goral also announced at the meeting that Late models will return for the first time in four years on Friday August 26. Manitowoc County Expo will not be running them that night and a full field of machines are expected.

And in the “think-outside-the-box department, a one-of-kind Topless modified race will be held Friday night, June 17.

IMCA modifieds, stock cars, sportmods, hobby stocks and sport fours will compete weekly at the third-mile, clay oval.

Luxemburg Speedway will open it’s doors for the 2011 season on Friday night, April 22 at 7 p.m. An open practice session will take place Friday night, April 15 for cars in any division. The Luxemburg Speedway car show will take place at East Town Mall in Green Bay Sunday, April 3 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Trophies will be awarded to drivers in all five weekly divisions and also one open class.
