MORE RAIN FORCES LUXEMBURG SPEEDWAY TO CANCEL MAY 13 RACES

(RAINOUT 3RD IN 4 WEEKS AT THIRD-MILE, CLAY OVAL)

(Luxemburg, WI) May 12 – For the third time in four weeks, a heavy downpour Thursday evening prompted Luxemburg Speedway track officials to cancel their scheduled program for Friday night, May 13.

Track officials had been battling cold, wet weather all year. Combined with a new clay surface that was added brought a typical, wet, and rough early season racing surface. “The surface itself is very saturated as we got an inch of rain Thursday night,” said track manager Rick Goral. “The pits are soaked as well.”

The new clay surface is continuing to firm up. But with more than 220 loads of new clay and some areas having more than 12 inches of clay added track officials have opted not to have a repeat of the rough, opening night track.

“We’ve got county employees who will be going at it all next week to take care of the soft spots,” said Goral. “We WILL be ready to go racing next Friday.”

Track officials will give it a go again next Friday, May 20 at 7 p.m. IMCA modifieds, stock cars, northern sportmods, hobby stocks and sport fours will compete weekly. For more information please check our website at luxemburgspeedway.com. The raceday track phone is (920) 845 2300.
