July 11, 2008; Luxemburg, WI. — Defending track champion Jared Siefert of Green Bay passed Kyle Kudick
for the lead on lap four and went on to win the caution free, 25 lap IMCA modified feature at Luxemburg Speedway Friday night. The win was the first of the year for the defending IMCA modified national track champion.

Siefert started fifth and immediately worked his way to third and motored to second in three short laps. Siefert whisked past Kudick on the fourth circuit and built a sizeable cushion during the balance of the contest. As Siefert kept all challengers at bay Jay Matthias held the second spot, while Benji LaCrosse and the father son duo of Brian and Mike Mullen for the third spot. While Matthias took second Brian Mullen finished third, followed by Mike Mullen and LaCrosse.

Hortonville’s Travis Van Straten slipped past Shawn Havel on the final lap to win the 22 lap IMCA stock car feature.

Hometown driver Eric Malfroid paced the opening five circuits of the 22 lap contest when a caution flew for a Jerry Leary spin. While under caution Malfroid’s racer caught on fire. The blaze was quickly extinguished and Malfroid rejoined the race at the tail of the field. When racing resumed Doug Kropp inherited the lead.

Havel, who started eighth, worked his way past Kropp on lap eleven. Van Straten sliced his way through the pack from 12th and made his way to second and began challenging Havel for the lead. With six laps to go Van Straten worked the bottom while Havel stuck to the high groove.

Havel shrugged off Van Straten’s challenges until the final lap, when Van Straten slipped past Havel as he slid a bit high on the final lap to win the contest. Havel settled for second at the pay window, followed by Pat Davister, Kraig Gretz and Cory Suchoski.

Suamico’s Adam White won his second straight, 18 lap IMCA northern sportmod feature. The sportmod main got off to a rocky start with a pair of wrecks before the opening lap.

One of the mishaps took out the points leader Tim Jorgensen of De Pere. Oconto’s Travis Cain scampered past Jeff Dubois for the lead on lap three. White ducked underneath Cain for the lead on lap six. One lap later a Jeremy Cota spin on the drew a yellow. While White built up a full straightaway lead that margin was erased with a caution with three
laps remaining. White kept all challengers at bay to collect his second straight win. Trailing at the checkers were Dubois, Tracy Wassenberg, Keith Kickbush and Cain.

With his third place finish Wassenberg took over the division points lead.

Points leader Dave De Grave passed Scott Boulanger for the lead with three laps remaining to win his ninth IMCA hobby stock feature on area ovals this season. Trailing at the line were Boulanger, Tom Brumlic, Jarred Van Lannen and Frank Paul.

Tony Everard passed Tailor Ness on the final lap to win the 15 lap sport four feature. There will be no racing next Friday, July 18 due to the Kewaunee County Fair. Weekly racing will resume on Friday, July 25. For more information call 920 863 8446. The track phone number is 920 845 2300. The track’s website is
