KILGORE DOUBLES UP IN LUXEMBURG MODIFIED CURTAIN CLOSER

IMCA SUPERNATIONALS CHAMPION CHRISTIANS COLLECTS STOCK CAR MAIN
(LUXEMBURG, WI) Sept 18 — New Franken’s Shawn Kilgore stole the show, passing Pulaski’s Jason Czarapata on lap 12 and went on the win the caution free, season ending, modified feature at Luxemburg
Speedway Saturday night. Kilgore also won the feature Friday night as well.
A total of 190 cars signed in to do battle, including 30 modifeds, 38 stock cars, 39 northern sportmods, 18 grand nationals, 27 hobby stocks and 23 sport fours.
Kilgore started third on the gride, and pressured Czarapata right off the bat, working the bottom groove. Kilgore slipped past Czarapata on lap 12. With ten laps to go Kilgore weaved his way carefully through lapped cars to seal the deal. Czarapata, winner of the Badger State Showdown in June, took second place. Fremont’s Mike Wedelstadt, Seymour’s Brian Mullen and De Pere’s Jay Matthias rounded out the top five.
2010 IMCA Supernationals stock car champion Jeremy Christians of Horicon passed Gillett’s Kyle Frederick for the lead on lap 13 and fought off a fast closing Shawn Wagner of Seymour in the waning laps to win the 25 lap stock car feature. Wagner, the 2010 track champion at both Seymour and Shawano Speedways, took second, followed by Frederick, Casco’s Matt Junio and Hortonville rookie Justin Jacobsen.
Hortonville’s Travis Van Straten outdueled New Franken’s Brad Lautenbach to win the sportmod feature. Lautenbach took second place money followed by Kewaunee’s Brad Theys, Shawano rookie Cody Hudson and Green Bay’s Troy Jerovetz, who was guest driving Eric Mahlik’s car.
Brillion’s Ben Stumpf took the lead at the drop of the green and kept Sheboygan’s Brian Cesar and company at bay to win the 25 lap grand national sportsman feature. Cesar finished second, followed by West Allis’ Don Sorce, Manitowoc’s Logan Rhode and Eagle’s Nick Schumacher.
Kewaunee’s Luke Lemmens battled Denmark’s Tom Brumlic and Luxemburg’s Marcus Moede to win the hobby stock.feature. Brumlic took second after fighting his way into the main through a last chance qualifier. Moede took third, followed by Sturgeon Bay’s John Hill and Luxemburg’s George Paul.
Brillion’s Ryan Eickert beat Kewaunee’s Ed Anschutz at the line to win the street stock main. Brillion’s Ryan Brandes took third, followed by Kaukauna’s Matt Drawenek and Neenah’s Greg Steffens.
Pulaski’s Justin Vannieuwenhoven doubled up, winning the feature both Friday and Saturday night in the sport four class.
That concludes the 2010 season of racing at Luxemburg Speedway.
