Record Car Counts Aniticipated for Luxemburg Opener April 26th!
By Joe Verdegan

April 21, 2002; Luxemburg, WI. - Rick Goral knows you only get one chance to make a first impression.

The new track manager of the newly-renamed Luxemburg Speedway is part of a new promotional group called Lakeshore Motorsports Promotions LLC. The new group will usher in a new era to an anticipated record car count when the gates of the third-mile, clay oval swing open for business on Friday night, April 26 for the WAPL 105.7 FM Rockin' Apple Lid-Lifter season opener.

Goral, a man with a reputation as a detail-oriented planner, says the long hours so far have been well worth it. "Once we get opening night in it will no doubt be a great relief," said Goral. "So far the pre-season response has been great. I'm confident we'll have a solid car count opening night. Within about an hour of this track there are probably close to 100 IMCA modified drivers and probably about 50 or 60 IMCA stock car drivers. With no other Friday night track running a sanctioned program in the area we're banking on a huge field."

Goral and his staff have been busy in the final days leading up to the opener. Everything from painting guardrail and tires, installing a new public address system to ordering uniforms and beginning prepping the track's clay surface.

Competing weekly will be the IMCA modifieds, IMCA stock cars and street stocks. Sport trucks will compete opening night. The trucks will rotate every third week with bombers and the track's newest entry level, four cylinder class the sport fours.

Grandstand tickets go on sale at 5 p.m. Racing begins at 7 p.m. For more information consult the track's website at www.luxemburgspeedway.com or you can call 920 863 8446. The raceday phone is 920 845 2300.

Luxemburg Speedway is located 15 minutes east of Green Bay off highway 54 at the Kewaunee County Fairgrounds.
