Despite Unseasonably Cold Weather
Luxemburg Speedway Opener Still A go!

By Joe Verdegan

April 25, 2002; Luxemburg, WI. - Despite weather better suited for snowmobile racing the season opening WAPL 105.7 FM Rockin Apple Lid-Lifter will commence as scheduled Friday night, April 26 at 7 p.m.

The month of August has brought unseasonably cold temperatures and erratic weather patterns, which delayed a handful of maintenance projects at the third-mile, clay oval located at the Kewaunee County Fairgrounds. But that has not hampered track crews in getting the racing surface and pit area ready to go racing. "Our track is in great shape," said track manager Rick Goral. "In fact our track prep man thinks we'll even have to add a little water before race time."

IMCA modifieds, IMCA stock cars, street stocks and sport trucks will make up the opening night field. A record car count of between 110 and 120 machines are expected to jam the pit area. The pit area opens at 4 p.m. Grandstand ticket sales get underway at 5 p.m. while racing starts at 7 p.m.

For more information call 920 863 8446. The raceday phone is 920 845 2300. The track website is www.luxemburgspeedway.com.
