New Sport Four Rules Opened Up for Luxemburg Speedway!
By Joe Verdegan

May 26, 2002; Luxemburg, WI. - Luxemburg Speedway track manager Rick Goral has announced a few rule changes that are expected to boost car counts in the track's new four-cylinder sport four division.

The following amendements to the 2002 rulebook will be made. Among the most significant are that ALL front wheel drive compact cars are allowed, not just American made vehicles as the rule had originally been written. "We've had a lot of inquiries from enduro drivers who have foreign cars who wanted to come and race with us on Friday nights," said Goral. "With these minor rules changes this will allow many of these drivers to become a part of our program."

Among the other significant changes are that a driver's door bar extending from the rear hoop angled down to the left front of the driver's compartment is required, along with a window net. A four point roll cage is no longer required.

Two of the original rules requiring all drivers being a minimum of 16 years of age or older and a Snell 90 or newer helmet are still in place. That along with eye protection, approved racing neckbrace, a five-point racing harness or stock shoulder belt, gloves and long sleeve and pants are required.

"My big thing when I originally drafted these rules was with safety in mind," said Goral. "What I don't want is one or two cars dominating each week. We need this class to take off because it's will produce our future drivers for some time to come."

The sport fours will run this Friday night, May 31 along with IMCA modifieds, IMCA stock cars, street stocks and sport trucks. Racing gets underway at 7 p.m. For more information call 920 863 8446. The track phone number is 920 845 2300. The track website is www.luxemburgspeedway.com.

Luxemburg Speedway is located 15 minutes east of Green Bay off highway 54 at the Kewaunee County Fairgrounds.
