June 2, 2002; Luxemburg, WI. - For the first time in more than five years sprint car racing will return to Luxemburg Speedway's third-mile, clay oval on Friday night, July 12 when the Midwest Sprint Car Assocation (MSA) 360 sprinters come to town. The ever-expanding traveling series, which hosts races at more than one dozen Wisconsin dirt ovals, will headline the Friday night program with a 25 lap feature. A full sprint car program complete with heats, last chance races and the 25 lap main event will take place. The track's weekly IMCA modifieds and IMCA stock cars will also be in action. "The guys are always looking to take on a new track and they're getting geared up to run Luxemburg," said MSA 360 public relations director Jay Ohman. "We'll have anywhere between 35 to 40 sprint cars for that show. It's a full points night for us so we should have a solid turnout." The group was founded in 1996 by Gary Schlafer. Schlafer created a Sprint Car class using high performance parts and affordable, 360 cubic inch motors. The series has grown rapidly in the past few years, sporting a unique mix of 410 class sprint car drivers, and other graduates from both the mini sprint and supermodified ranks. Spectator gates open at 5:45 p.m. with the first green flag flying at 7 p.m. For more information consult the track website at www.luxemburgspeedway.com. or www.MSASprints.com. The track phone number is 920 845 2300. Luxemburg Speedway is located 15 minutes east of Green Bay off highway 54 at the Kewaunee County Fairgrounds in Luxemburg. |
