For New IMCA Hobby Stock Class
at Luxemburg Speedway!

October 24, 2002;
Luxemburg, WI. - With 18 drivers already signed up to compete and the
season still several months away, Luxemburg Speedway track manager Rick Goral is confident
his new IMCA hobby stock division will take off and be an ample replacement for the street
stock division, which will not compete weekly at the track in 2003.
At an informational meeting at Northbrook Country Club October 23, more than 40 people
with interest in the division showed up to find out more on this newest class. Former
winged modified and IMCA modified competitor Brad Anderegg of Algoma was named the IMCA
hobby stock representative for the season.
Plans call to grandfather the bomber cars that competed at ThunderHill Raceway and
Luxemburg Speedway for one year.
"Basically the cars must follow IMCA's rules with regards to wheels, tires and
motors," said Goral. "But the cars are so close that IMCA has allowed us to
grandfather the bomber cars. I'm excited because I had calls from three guys who've
already started building them and they weren't even at our meeting. Before season's end I
think a full field, 20 car feature is a real possibility."
The class should provide a diverse mix of drivers. Among the driver's who've signed up to
race are Sturgeon Bay bomber drivers "Joe Bear" and Maynard Hegnet, Kevin
"Long Legs" Laughlin and Gregg Aregoni, Marcus Moede of Casco, IMCA modified
driver Randy LeMieux, street stock drivers Eddie "The Eagle" Anschutz of Algoma
and Dan"Hollywood" Davister of Luxemburg.
Others include former sport truck drivers Jarrod Van Laanen and Mike Mueller of Green Bay.
In addition from the pavement 141 Speedway drivers include Mishicot's Jo Mueller, Green
Bay's Derek Kaye and Brillion's Jason Behnke. Among the pure "rookie's"
registered early on are Green Bay pilots Dave Lane, Jacob Phillips and Travis DuChateau,
along with Denmark's Carl Engelberg and Sturgeon Bay's Darin Malvitz.
The season opener will be Friday night, April 25 at 7 p.m. For more information on the
