Scores In Luxemburg WISSOTA Late Model Go!

Luxemburg, WI. - Shawano's Troy Springborn scampered past MJ Hintz on
lap seventeen and carefully weaved his way through lapped traffic to win the 40 lap
WISSOTA late model feature at Luxemburg Speedway Sunday night. The win was Springborn's
first at the speedway and was worth $1,500.
124 cars signed in to compete in front of the largest crowd of the
season. The field included 29 WISSOTA late models, 35 IMCA modifieds, 43 IMCA stock cars
and 17 IMCA hobby stocks.
AJ Diemel rocketed out of his pole position into the lead. A lap two yellow flew for a
Terry Casey spin in turn four. On the restart MJ Hintz bolted into second and stuck with
Diemel for another circuit. Hintz slipped underneath Diemel for the lead on lap four.
Hintz proceeded to build up a three car length lead over the pack. Gordie Seegert moved
into the third spot and began challenging Diemel for the runnerup spot on lap five. A lap
10 caution flew for Doug Blashe's stalled racer. Back under green Seegert motored around
Diemel for second and stepped up to challenge Hintz for the lead. Springborn moved into
the third spot using the outside line, and caught the leaders on lap 15 making it a three
car scrum for the lead.
Using the tacky, outside line Springborn sailed past Hintz for the lead on lap 17. The
Shawano driver began building a sizeable cushion over Seegert and Hintz. Springborn caught
up with lapped cars at lap twenty five, carefully sifting his way through traffic. By lap
twenty five Pete Parker had sliced his way from 13th into third, setting his sights on
Springborn and Seegert.
With five laps to go Seegert closed the gap on Springborn to within four
car lengths. However it wasn't enough as Springborn picked up the feature win. Seegert
took second. Pete Parker threaded his way from 13th to finish third, earning the Gold Star
Racing Supplies/Performance Bodies Hard Charger award. MJ Hintz and AJ Diemel rounded out
the top five finishers.
Green Bay's RM Van Pay took the lead away from Jay Matthias on lap 15 and smashed his foes
with a convincing 25 lap IMCA modified feature win.
Van Pay started the contest in eighth, and quickly moved into third by lap seven, battling
leader Jay Matthias and Dave Zeitler, who was second. A lap 12 yellow tightened the field,
and Van Pay zipped past Matthias on the restart, and built up a five car length lead at
the finish. Scott Mullen took second, followed by Jared Seifert, Benji LaCrosse and
Matthias.
Horicon's Jeremy Christians passed Travis Van Straten on a lap 11 restart and sweated out
three late caution periods to claim his third 22 lap IMCA stock car feature win of the
season.
Rookie Eric Van Iten paced the opening six rounds of the contest when a lap six yellow
flew for a Brian Bruechert spin in turn four. On the restart Travis Van Straten stayed
glued to Van Iten's rear bumper, with Jeremy Christians a tight third. A caution for
debris flew on lap nine, bunching up the field once more. When racing resumed a three wide
battle ensued for the lead, with Van Straten taking the low road and Christians running up
top, door-to-door for the next several laps shuffling Van Iten further back in the field.
Van Iten spun on lap 11, drawing another amber.
Christians and Van Straten resumed their duel under the green, with Christians hanging
onto the lead. Brandon Czarapata and Rod Snellenberger joined the duo, marking a four car
scrap for the lead. Christians maintained the top spot, leaving all others to battle for
runnerup honors in the final laps. A Brandon Mindak spin on lap twenty set up a two lap
shootout to the checkers. Christians fought off the field to collect the win, followed by
Brandon Czarapata, Shawn Kilgore, Van Straten and Jason Czarapata.
Algoma's Evan Madden survived a late race charge from Tony Schlei to win the 15 lap IMCA
hobby stock feature. Madden also won his heat, scoring a sweep for the night. Schlei, Ed
Anschutz, Marcus Moede and Gregg Aregoni rounded out the top five finishers.
Next Friday night Big Wheel races for children ages 3-10 will take place at intermission,
sponsored by Coca Cola. A regular program featuring IMCA modifieds, IMCA stock cars, IMCA
hobby stocks and four cylinder sport fours will be in action beginning at 7 p.m. For more
