Second Time No Charm for Luxemburg Special!
By Joe Verdegan

September 12, 2003; Luxemburg, WI. -  Just as it had in July, the McCoy Harley Davidson Classic at the
Luxemburg Speedway once again fell victim to rain Friday night.

The Classic was to offer the highest paying stock car purse ever at the Kewaunee County Fairgrounds.  Circumstances this time were nearly identical to the situation that plagued the event for its first scheduled date, July 30th, as the opener to the Kewaunee County Fair.  Teams were already arriving when light rain hit the track about 5:15.   15 minutes later, a steady downpour struck, ending any hope of saving the third mile clay oval.

Due to the annual Heritage Days Festival occupying the Fairgrounds the weekend of September 19-21, and weekend specials at other area tracks the following two weekends, the Classic has been cancelled and the 2003 season declared officially completed.

Track management would like to thank all teams and fans for the tremendous support during the season, and look forward to continued success in 2004.
