IRA Outlaws Ready for June 14 Return to Luxemburg Speedway!
By Joe Verdegan

May 28, 2003; Luxemburg, WI. - It's been eight long years since the high-powered, Bumper To Bumper IRA Outlaw 410 sprint cars invaded Luxemburg Speedway's third-mile, clay oval. The dozens of drivers from the Midwest's premiere 410 sprint car organization are anxious for their long-awaited return to the speedway on Saturday night June 14. A field of between 35-40 sprinters is expected. The regionally popular WISSOTA late models will join the winged warriors in a high-powered doubleheader that's had race fans buzzing locally for several months.

"With Shawano being off that night we expect a large number of folks from Shawano County to head east on highway 29 and take in our program," said series president Steve Sinclair. "The sprint car/late model doubleheader bill has worked real well in the past. A lot of our series guys have had this date pegged on their calendars for some time now. It's the only race that weekend for our guys so a full field of sprinters is expected."

Among those expected to partake in the Saturday special are defending track champion John Haeni, Joe Roe, Kim Mock, Darrell Dodd, Minnesota's Travis Whitney, Sheboygan area drivers Jim Melis, Dave "The Ghost" Enders, Steve Meyer, Ty Bartz, Todd King, and rookie sensation Mike Kerschter, a former mini sprint champion at Chilton Speedway.

"We expect drivers from a four state area for this event," said Sinclair. "We've had some rainouts early in our schedule. Most of our guys should have fresh equipment yet for this show. " For the WISSOTA late models it will be the third race of a four race series at Luxemburg Speedway.

A full program is on tap, including heat races, last chance events in both classes as well as sprint car qualifying, which is scheduled to begin at 6:15 p.m. Adult tickets for this race will be $18.00. For more information on this event you can consult either the track or series websites at www.irasprints.com or www.luxemburgspeedway.com. The track phone number is 920 845 2300. Luxemburg Speedway is located 15 minutes east of Green Bay off highway 54 at the Kewaunee County Fairgrounds.
