Big Money On The Line In Luxemburg Speedway Holiday Blowout!
By Joe Verdegan

June 26, 2003; Luxemburg, WI. -- A $2,000-to-win top prize will be up for grabs to the winner of the IMCA modified feature on Friday, July 4 during Luxemburg Speedway's Holiday blowout sponsored by Prestige Custom Cabinets.

A 40 lap feature is on tap for the IMCA modifieds, who will compete for national points, not track points on that evening. The Tri-County Heating IMCA stock cars will scrap for a $1,500 top prize. Both divisions will utilize a draw/redraw format for this particular special at the third-mile, clay oval.

"There are so many modified and stock car drivers who pop in on occasion with us," said track manager Rick Goral. "With a big paying special event such as this we've got a lot of these "part timers" with us who've said they'll make sure this show is on their schedule."

So far in 2003 The IMCA modified division has seen just three different winners; former track champion Brian Mullen of Seymour who won five straight, Algoma's Todd "Felix" Dart who broke Mullen's win streak in a wild, last lap finish on June 20, and defending track champion Eddie Muenster of Green Bay who won on opening night. The division has averaged 36 cars per night with counts topping 40 on four different occasions.

In the Tri-County Heating IMCA stock car ranks only Horicon's Jeremy Christians and Hortonville's Travis Van Straten have repeated as winners, capturing two feature wins apiece. Other feature winners in the tough division include Horicon's Brandon Czarapata and Kewaunee drivers Shawn Kilgore and Brian Bruechert.

Luxemburg's IMCA stock car count is without question the toughest in Wisconsin, averaging 39 cars per night. 40 or more have surfaced on six different nights. "If you want to find out where you rank among the best in this division in Wisconsin then you've got to be at Luxemburg," said Bruechert. "Just making the 20 car feature each night is often an accomplishment in itself."

A huge fireworks display is also on tap, prompting an earlier 6:30 p.m. start time. The draw cutoff is 6 p.m. IMCA hobby stocks will compete in a regular program for both track and national point standings. Pit passes are $18.00. Adult admission is $11.00, Students $8.00 and kids six through twelve are $3.00. Kids five and under will be admitted free with an adult.
