Sunday Night Special Wraps Up Luxemburg
WISSOTA Late Model Series!

By Joe Verdegan

July 1, 2003; Luxemburg, WI. -- Racing at Luxemburg Speedway has been a Friday night tradition now for more than three decades. But on July 13 the third-mile, clay oval will host a Sunday night special highlighted with the final appearance of the WISSOTA late models in 2003.

The event, sponsored by Ponderosa/Razor 94.7 FM and Springborn Racing, will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will feature a large number of giveaways for fans all night long. 2001 Wisconsin WISSOTA late
model champion Troy Springborn will have his dirt late model on display under the grandstand prior to the races.

Among the giveaways will be weekend vacation packages at the Rodeway Inn with Noah's Ark tickets in Wisconsin Dells; Concert tickets to see Lee Ann Womack, Cheap Trick or Jethro Tull at the Crystal
Grand Theatre in Wisconsin Dells; a weekend stay at the Country Inn & Suites in Shawano; a 4 pack of tickets to the Starlight Express at the Weidner Center in Green Bay and a pair of Audio Speakers
from Extreme Audio.

"The great thing with all of these giveaways is that we'll be doing the drawings right off of the regular admission tickets," said promotion organizer Bill Plucker. "No one will have to purchase any additional tickets to be eligible for the prize packages."

On the track action will be highlighted by a 40 lap WISSOTA late model feature, paying $1,500-to-win. Shawano's MJ McBride currently leads the point standings in the track series, holding a 12 point lead over Bonduel's AJ Diemel. Gordie Seegert sits in third with 97 points. Both McBride and Seegert have won the two prior late models at the speedway this year. One other show was rained out. "Most of the drivers in the top 10 in points have really got a shot yet at winning this deal," said track manager Rick Goral. "With Seymour off that night we expect a full field of cars in all divisions, including late models."

Also running during the Sunday night special will be the IMCA modifieds, IMCA stock cars and IMCA hobby stocks. It will be a full track and national points night for all divisions. Fans are reminded of the earlier start time of 6:30 p.m. to ensure that races get done at a reasonable hour to get the fans home early.

A full, regular night Friday night program is slated for Friday night, July 11 as well.
