Mod Champ Muenster to Wheel WISSOTA Late Model in Luxemburg Special!
By Joe Verdegan

July 3, 2003; Luxemburg, WI. --  Three time Luxemburg Speedway IMCA modified champion Eddie Muenster of Green Bay will wheel a WISSOTA late model at Luxemburg Speedway Sunday night, July 13 for the Ponderosa/Razor 94.7 FM Springborn Race night event.

Muenster will be driving a machine owned by Lee Thyse of Black Creek. The car is normally driven by Black Creek's Doug Klemp. Klemp broke his wrist in the last late model show at Luxemburg on Saturday, June 13 in an opening lap accident. "Mark Mitchell has filled in for Doug the past few weeks and has done a great job," said Thyse. "Mark will be racing his own car at Luxemburg that night. With Eddie's knowledge of how to get around Luxemburg's track we should have some fun."

Up until his injury Klemp had performed well in the car, qualifying for both WISSOTA Challenge Series races in the area in June. Klemp also placed ninth in the first feature race at Luxemburg. The car is sponsored by Givani's Pizza of Pulaski, Trail's End Saloon of Pulaski and Red's Tire in Black Creek.

Muenster has raced a handful of times in a dirt late model in the past. "I drove a car for Bob Zegers a few times years back," Muenster recalled. "And then I ran a car for Ed Bertram at Gold Star Racing Supplies a couple of times. It will be fun to get back behind the wheel of a dirt car with a softer tire and seeing what we can do."

In addition to his dirt track modified experience Muenster has also raced the past several seasons in a super late model on the pavement at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna. On July 13 he'll be doing double duty, also competing in his IMCA modified in a regular track points night. IMCA stock cars and IMCA hobby stocks will also compete in the Sunday night special. Seymour Tri-Oval Raceway is off that evening so a full field of cars in all divisions is expected.

The pit area opens at 4 p.m. with racing getting underway one-half hour earlier than normal at 6:30 p.m.
