Modified Classic!

By Joe Verdegan

September 7, 2003; Luxemburg, WI. --  Local modified, stock car and hobby stock teams are preparing for Luxemburg Speedway's season finale on Friday night, September 12 for the McCoy's Harley Davidson modified classic.

The event scheduled at the third-mile, clay oval was rained out on July 30. There will be no other raindate for this event.

The 50 lap modified feature will pay $2,000 to the winner and $100 to start in the richest-paying show in track history. Stock cars will battle in a 40 lap feature paying $1,500 and $75 to start. Hobby stocks will also compete, with rules expanded to allow cars from nearby 141 Speedway to compete. The show will be non-sanctioned and will follow local track rules. There will be no engine claim and a  draw/redraw format will take place.

"That night there are no other track's in Wisconsin running modifieds or stock cars that I'm aware of, so our car counts should be pretty solid," said track manager Rick Goral. "We've got a handful of guys who run the pavement at 141 Speedway who want to try out the dirt. This late season, non-points event is just what the doctor ordered for them.

A car and driver entry fee of $30.00 will be charged in the modified and stock car classes while a $20.00 pit pass will be charged for non-drivers entering the pit area. The draw cutoff is at 6:40 p.m. For more information call 920 863 8446. The track phone is 920 845 2300.

The track's website is www.luxemburgspeedway.com.

Luxemburg Speedway is located 15 minutes east of Green Bay off highway 54 at the Kewaunee County Fairgrounds.
