Despite Sub-Par Weather, Luxemburg Speedway Practice Still A Go!
By Joe Verdegan

April 18, 2003; Luxemburg, WI. -  Despite a deluge of torrential rains in recent days, the planned car show and practice session at Luxemburg Speedway for Saturday, April 19 is still on as scheduled.

"Bobby (Marquis) informs me that the track is in excellent condition," said track manager Rick Goral. "The pit area is soft and spongy in some spots. It's really amazing to me that we'd even be considering running our practice with the terrible weather we've had. But the "Trackmaster" assures me we can hold the practice
session without jeopardizing the track conditions for our opening night show on April 25."

The track is in such raceable condition that Goral says it can even take a light shower overnight. "As long as it's not a huge downpour I suspect we'll still have the practice tomorrow afternoon. With Shawano calling off their program I imagine we'll pull in many cars that we wouldn't normally get tomorrow."

The practice session, which is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m., is open to race cars in all divisions. A large contingent of IMCA modifieds and stock cars are expected, as well as IMCA hobby stocks and sport fours.
"I'd imagine we'll get some street stocks and WISSOTA late models, too," said Goral. Track staff will also be conducting safety inspections as well.

A car show is scheduled behind the grandstand beginning at 10 a.m. until the practice begins at 1 p.m. Trophies will be awarded to contestants in the IMCA modified, stock car, hobby stock and sport four divisions. Grandstand admission is free to the public. Pit fees are $15 for drivers and $5 for pit crew members.
