Record Car Counts Anticipated for Luxemburg Speedway Opener!
By Joe Verdegan

April 19, 2003; Luxemburg, WI. - With drivers in eastern Wisconsin chomping at the bit to get some local racing in,
Luxemburg Speedway could very well be looking at a record car count for their season opening race on Friday night, April 25.

While another area dirt track has had it's opening night postponed twice already thanks to Mother Nature, the plentiful IMCA modifieds and IMCA stock cars in the area could swell to record numbers on opening night. "Everyone's ready to get some racing in," said track manager Rick Goral. "With us being the first dirt track to open in the area we should get some cars that won't even necessarily race with us on a weekly basis. But they'll come to get a good shakedown in. The weather hasn't been on anyone's side lately."

Last season's highest car count in the IMCA modifieds was 47 machines during the third night last year. The IMCA stock car season high total in 2002 was 41. Both of those records could easily be beaten when the pit shack opens for business Friday night.

In addition, the new IMCA hobby stock division has nearly 30 drivers signed up to compete this year. Early season numbers are expected to rival those in the street stock division from a year ago. And, car counts in the four-cylinder sport four division are expected to climb rapidly as the season progresses. With the opportunity to field a car for less than $1,000 it's become an appealing class at not only Luxemburg Speedway but other area tracks as well.

Pit gates open at 5 p.m. Friday. Grandstand tickets go on sale at 5:45 p.m. Racing is slated to get underway at 7 p.m. For more information call 920 863 8446. The track phone is 920 845 2300. The track's website is www.luxemburgspeedway.com.

Luxemburg Speedway is located 15 minutes east of Green Bay off highway 54 at the Kewaunee County Fairgrounds.
