Luxemburg Speedway Late Model Special Rules Set!
By Joe Verdegan

June 21, 2004; Luxemburg, WI. - Race fans at Luxemburg Speedway will be able to see their local heroes as well as the Milwaukee- area racers from the Wisconsin Dirt Late Model Association (WDLMA) when the dirt late models roar into town for the Springborn Racing/Razor 94.7 FM 40 at Luxemburg Speedway on Sunday night, July 11.

Both WISSOTA style-cars and the UMP-type machines that competed weekly at the now defunct Hales Corners Speedway will be able to compete together under a common set of rules. "We're going to mandate that drivers run a minimum Hoosier D-30 for both rear tires for this event," said track manager Rick Goral. "We'll allow the WDLMA guys to run with their D-55's if they choose on the rear, but the softest tire allowed all night on both rears will be the D-30. Any tires on the front will work. We had more than 40 late models coming to the Battle of the Burg before it rained out and I can tell you our counts will be pretty close to that on July 11."

WISSOTA-legal cars will compete at the common 2,300 lbs. weight while aluminum block cars will weigh 2,350 lbs.

The race is being run on Sunday night because Seymour Tri-Oval Raceway is off due to the Outagamie County Fair. "This was a great promotion last year and we're welcoming them back again this year," said Goral. "We've got a ton of real nice giveaways for this event. With a 6:30 p.m. start time we should get done at a reasonable hour."

Among the giveaways are a $1,500 travel/vacation voucher from Forest County Potawatomi to anywhere you wish. Other prizes include several kid's bicycles, tickets to Wilderness Resort and Noah's Ark, tickets to the sold out Van Halen concert at the Resch Center in July, tickets to Ozzfest, Waterfest and tickets to Green Bay Blizzard games and to Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna.

In addition to the late models, a full points program of IMCA modifieds, IMCA stock cars and IMCA hobby stocks will also be run. Pits open at 3 p.m. with the draw cutoff at 5:45. Hot lap sessions will begin at 6 p.m. Pit passes will be $20.00.

Luxemburg Speedway is located 15 minutes east of Green Bay off highway 54 at the Kewaunee County Fairgrounds. For more information call 920 863 8446. The track phone is 920 845 2300.
