Large Field of Cars Shakes Down at Luxemburg!

April 24, 2004; Luxemburg, WI. - A total of 89 cars representing nine different divisions across eastern Wisconsin took advantage of an open practice session at Luxemburg Speedway's third-mile, clay oval this afternoon.

The field included 26 IMCA stock cars, 25 IMCA modifieds, 13 IMCA hobby stocks, 11 street stocks, six sport fours, five WISSOTA late models, two Eastern Wisconsin Stock Car supermodifieds, one limited late model and one grand national sportsman.

"For the few hundred or so fans who came to watch this free practice session they got to see a variety of race cars," said track manager Rick Goral. "The sun was out so the track conditions were a little dry but the track was smooth. It was good to get this practice session in. I'm real happy with this car count."

Fans also got their first glimpse at the new lights in both the pit area and out on the track. In addition, a new pit bleacher section with new fencing and a retaining wall was just finished.

Best appearing car awards were given out in the four divisions that compete weekly at the track.

Awards went to Billy ":The Kid" LeMieux of Sturgeon Bay in the IMCA modifieds; rookie Kraig "Peanuts" Gretz of Kewaunee in the IMCA stock cars; defending state IMCA hobby stock champion Eddie "The Eagle" Anschutz of Algoma and Don Mahlberg of Green Bay in the sport four division.
