Wire-to-Wire In Luxemburg IMCA Mod Main
LaCrosse Nails Down Title!
By Joe Verdegan |
August 26, 2005;
Luxemburg, WI. - De Pere's Mike Mashl led every lap and survived
numerous caution periods to win the $1,000 Tyler De Noble Memorial 24 lap IMCA modified
feature at Luxemburg Speedway Friday night. The victory was Mashl's first of the season.
By qualifying for the main event hometown driver Benji LaCrosse
captured his first division track championship.
A total of 33 IMCA modifieds were on hand, along with 37 IMCA stock cars, 16 IMCA hobby
stocks, 30 street stocks, 16 sport fours and six Lady 4's.
Mashl started the event from the pole position, and never relinquished the top spot. He
was challenged late in the race by the uncle/nephew combination of Scott Mullen and Mike
Mullen, who placed second and third, respectively. Randy LeMieux Jr. took fourth while
Jared Siefert rounded out the top five finishers.
Pulaski's Rod Snellenberger passed early race leader Jesse Colwell to take the lead on lap
10 and fought off Shawn Kilgore in the closing laps to win the 22 lap IMCA stock car
feature. By virtue of his runnerup finish Kilgore garnered enough points to win the
division's track championship, his second straight title. Charlie Kroll took third,
followed by Jason Czarapata and Jamie Colwell, who had a one point lead heading into the
night. Colwell cut a tire in his heat and was forced to qualify into the feature through
one of two consolation races.
Appleton's Dave Hoerning led every lap and survived three caution periods to capture the
18 lap street stock feature. With his second place finish Sturgeon Bay's Aaron Thornton
captured the street stock points championship. Second place points sitter Von Eychenson
placed third in the feature, followed by Fred Davister and Joe Johnson.
Lomira's Jesse Kanas captured the 18 lap caution free IMCA hobby stock main. The win was
his third of the season. Illinois' Tony Schlei placed eighth in the main, earning him the
division's points title, his first ever at Luxemburg.
Bonduel's Greg Banker captured both the 15 lap sport four feature, along with the
division's track championship. Shawano's Holly Welch won her first 10 lap Lady 4 feature
while Seymour's Amanda Johnson won the division track title.
. There will be no racing next Friday night, September 2. A $1,000-to-win, 35 lap IMCA
modified feature sponsored by U & I Express Movers will highlight action during a
special race on Thursday night, Sept. 1 beginning at 7 p.m. IMCA stock cars, hobby stocks
and sport fours will also be in action. Bonus money will be thrown into the other
divisions. This will be a state and national IMCA points race, with a draw/redraw format
being used. For more information call 920 863 8446. The track phone number is 920 845
