 LUXEMBURG SPEEDWAY READY FOR OPENER
By Joe Verdegan

April 24, 2005; Luxemburg, WI. - Track officials from Luxemburg Speedway are busy preparing for the season
opening stock car race on Friday night, April 30 for KICKS 104.9 FM night.

2005 will mark the fourth season that Lakeshore Promotions has headed up the weekly, Friday night program at the Kewaunee County Fairgrounds. Racing on the third-mile, clay oval begins at 7 p.m.

Drivers will have a new surface to race in this year. Recently more than 7000 yards of clay was added to the track. The surface features a much steeper banking and wider corners. Additional  speakers have been added in the pit area and in the grandstand as well. A new souvenier trailer will sell racing-related merchandise underneath the grandstand.

IMCA modifieds, stock cars, hobby stocks and sport fours will compete weekly. The track's new division, the Lady 4's, will race every other week beginning opening night.

Nearly 100 drivers representing nine different divisions took part in an open practice session at the track on April 23.

2004 IMCA mod champion Scott Mullen of Seymour has indicated he will race "three-fourths" of the regular season, which could put that title up for grabs. Kewaunee's Shawn Kilgore has a new car at his disposal for to defend his stock car championship. Fellow Kewaunee driver Keith Kickbush will attempt to win his third hobby stock crown in a row, while hometown driver Tyler Smith will defend his sport four crown.

In addition to the weekly racing, the track will feature several other divisions competing throughout the season. A pair of Wisconsin Dirt Late Model Association (WDLMA) will be run, as well as the return of the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw sprint car series, the United States Touring Modified Series (USMTS) and specials including the winged supermodifieds from Eastern Wisconsin Stock Car (EWSC) and limited late models from Shawano and Manitowoc. Five street stock specials are also on tap.
