Luxemburg, WI. - Luxemburg Speedway officials are preparing for the
return of the Wisconsin Dirt Late Model Association (WDLMA) for the fourth annual 40 lap
"Battle of the 'Burg" on Friday, June 10 sponsored by Seubert Calf Ranches of
Dorchester, WI.
The event pits the local WISSOTA late model favorites along with the series regulars, many
of whom are Milwaukee-area racers who compete weekly at the Raceway at Powercom Park in
Beaver Dam or on Tuesday nights at Powercom Speedzone in Oshkosh. "Last year we had
33 cars and the rains came," said track manager Rick Goral. "And the field was
pretty much an even split right down the middle with Milwaukee area cars and the locals.
The late models are always a big hit at Luxemburg."
The series debuted on Tuesday, May 17 in Oshkosh with Navarino's Nick Anvelink pulling off
a thrilling, last lap pass to beat nine time Hales Corners Speedway champion Russ
Scheffler. In addition, past Luxemburg late model feature winners Troy Springborn and MJ
McBride of Shawano and Gordie Seegert Jr. of Oostburg are expected, along with many
others. "With Shawano getting nearly 30 cars for a weekly show and Antigo being off
that night we're expecting a solid field of between 30 and 40 cars for this event,"
said Goral. "We'll be using the draw/redraw format as well."
Along with the WDLMA racers will be the regular weekly program of IMCA modifieds, IMCA
stock cars and IMCA hobby stocks. The pits open at 4 p.m. while the grandstand opens at
5:45 p.m. Racing gets underway at 7 p.m. For more information call 920 863 8446. For
