Defending
IMCA Supernationals champion Benji LaCrosse of Luxemburg is
joined by brother Jeff in victory lane following his fourth
feature win of the season at his hometown track.
De Pere's
Tim Jorgenson is all smiles after posting his fifth sport four
feature of
the season at Luxemburg Speedway on August 18. Jorgenson has
been on a tear
at area tracks this year, posting a total of 20 feature wins. He
currently leads points
at tracks in Luxemburg, Manitowoc and Seymour. |
Polesitter Clyde Skenadore grabbed the early
lead in the 25 lap contest, and pulled away to a five car length
lead over second place Dave Werbelow Jr. By the event's halfway
point Werbelow caught Skenadore and challenged for the lead.
Werbelow and Jeremy Jacobs collided on lap seventeen, drawing a
caution.
On the restart LaCrosse passed Skenadore for the
lead using the high line, leaving Zeitler and Skenadore to duke it
out for second. A caution flew with three laps to go when Lance
Arnenson's mount stalled in turn four. After another lap and another
yellow took place a two lap dash to the checkers was set for the
finish. LaCrosse was never headed as he collected the victory.
Zeitler came home second, followed by Jared Siefert, Brian Mullen
and Jay Matthias.
Ellisville's Bob Waechter swept action in the IMCA
stock car division, winning his heat and taking the lead on a lap
five restart to win his first 20 lap IMCA stock car feature of the
season. Mishicot's Doug Morgan took the lead at the beginning of the
20 lap feature, when a lap five yellow flew for a multi-car pileup
in turn one. When racing resumed Bob Waechter ducked underneath
Morgan to take the lead. Morgan's racer broke down two laps later,
drawing an amber on lap seven.
Waechter kept the lead on the restart. Ben Kroll took the second
spot on the restart and stayed within striking distance, but was
unable to catch Waechter who posted his first feature flag of the
season. Troy Muench, Jesse Colwell, points leader Jason Czarapata
and Kroll rounded out the top five finishers.
Green Bay's Mike Mueller fought off a fast closing
Dave De Grave in the closing laps to win the caution free, 18 lap
IMCA hobby stock feature. The win was Mueller's first of the year.
De Grave, Tom Brumlic, Dan Davister and points leader Ed Anschutz
rounded out the top five. With his heat win, Mueller also scored a
clean sweep for the evening.
Seymour's Harley Simon won the caution filled 14 lap
street stock feature. He also won his heat, sweeping the division
for the night. Hometown driver Fred Davister captured the division
points title.
De Pere's Tim Jorgenson swept action in the sport
four division, winning his fifth feature of the season here and 18th
of the season on area ovals. Gary Novitski Jr. took second followed
by 14-year-old Matt Cherney, who competed in his first ever race on
dirt. JJ Anderson and Jeremy Czarapata rounded out the top five
finishers.
Next Friday night, August 25 Tri County Heating will
sponsor championship night at the races. Also there will be a
trailer race of destruction. All four weekly divisions will be in
action, along with the street stocks, who will have their final race
of the season. For more information call 920 863 8446. The
