2005 CHAMPIONS CROWNED AT LUXEMBURG SPEEDWAY
 AWARDS BANQUET

January 28, 2006; Nueren, WI. -  More than 300 drivers, race officials and fans took part in the 2005 Luxemburg Speedway awards banquet at Rendezvous Pleasure Palace in nearby Nueren Saturday night.

Hometown driver Benji LaCrosse captured four features and was a model of consistency all season long as LaCrosse won the IMCA modified title by 44 points over Todd Dart of Algoma. It was a banner season for LaCrosse, who also emerged triumphant in the IMCA Supernationals in Boone, Iowa, dirt racing's biggest event of the year for modified drivers. LaCrosse plans on defending his title and has a brand new car at his disposal.

Kewaunee's Shawn Kilgore kept his head above water throughout the season, edging Jamie Colwell of Greenleaf by a mere two points to win the IMCA stock car title. Kilgore will not defend his title, as he will compete for rookie-of-the-year honors in the modified division this year.

Zion, Illinois pilot Tony Schlei made the long trek each week pay off, winning the IMCA hobby stock division crown. Schlei beat out hometown driver Dan Davister by seven points in a battle that went down to the final night of racing. Schlei will move up into the IMCA stock car division this year.

Bonduel's Greg Banker won his second straight sport four title, beating out rival Tim Jorgenson of De Pere by 10 points. Amanda Johnson earned the track's first ever Lady 4 championship by beating out Sue Cherney by one point.

Sturgeon Bay's Aaron Thornton captured the five race street stock series.

Rookie of the year honors in the IMCA modified division went to Shawano's David Werbelow Jr. Jesse Colwell of Greenleaf won the IMCA stock car rookie of the year crown, while 15-year-old Adam White of Oconto Falls shared the honors with former truck racer Ed Danoff of Green Bay.

Pulaski's Jeremy Czarapata won the rookie crown in the sport four division.

A total of 355 drivers in eight different divisions competed at the track during weekly racing in the 2005 season.That field included 68 different IMCA modified drivers and 65 different IMCA stock car drivers. The stock car class averaged just under 40 cars per night, making it one of the biggest fields not only in Wisconsin but also the Midwest.

The 2006 season will kick off Friday night, April 28 at 7 p.m. IMCA modifieds, IMCA stock cars, IMCA hobby stocks and sport fours will compete weekly through Labor day weekend.
