Drivers Sign Up For Luxemburg's '08 Campaign!
By Joe Verdegan

February 2, 2008; Denmark, WI. -  71 drivers representing five different weekly divisions signed up to compete on Friday nights at Luxemburg Speedway as track officials held their annual winter meeting at Northbrook Country Club Friday night for the upcoming 2008 season.

The breakdown of numbers of drivers per division who signed up to compete again in '08 were 26 IMCA stock cars, 13 modifieds, 11 hobby stocks, 15 sportmods and 6 sport fours. "We normally get a little more than half of our weekly competitors to sign up this early in the year," said Track Manager Rick Goral. "We're right about where we should be. Sales of the pit stalls are right where they were last year, so we anticipate another solid year of racing."

Goral outlined the preliminary 2008 season schedule, which should see few changes from past years. 2008 will mark the seventh year of racing at the Kewaunee County Fairgrounds under the direction of Lakeshore Motorsports Promotions, who took over the weekly, Friday night program in 2002.

Highlighting the 24 races schedule will be the annual two day IMCA Badger State Showdown June 5 and June 6. The event has annually been the highest paying IMCA sanctioned event in Wisconsin’s history, and the 2008 edition will be no exception. The track’s four, weekly IMCA sanctioned divisions will compete during the two day special.

In commemoration of the 100 year Anniversary of the Village of Luxemburg, a 100 lap IMCA modified feature will culminate festivities at the third-mile, clay oval Friday, August 22. Also for the first time ever the INEX Legends series will make a pair of appearances at the track May 30 and August 8. “While the schedule is roughly 90 percent complete, there is a slight chance we may have one late model show, or even an addition of the grand national class on one particular night,” said Goral. “We expect that to be finalized before March 1, when our final schedule comes out.”

The 2008 season will kick off Friday night, April 18 at 7 p.m. IMCA modifieds, stock cars, hobby stocks, northern sportmods and sport fours will compete weekly through Labor day weekend. An open practice session for cars in any and all divisions will take place Friday, April 11 from 6 to 9 p.m. For more information call 920 863 8446. The track's
